Permanent Residency (PR) Visa

Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa (Subclass 186)

What is the visa for?

This visa allows skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer, to live and work in Australia permanently.

What are the different streams?
  • Temporary Residence Transition Stream: For individuals who have worked with their nominating employer in Australia on a temporary visa for at least three years

  • Direct Entry Stream: For applicants who have not worked in Australia or have worked for a shorter period, or are nominated for a position in Australia.

  • Labour Agreement Stream: For workers nominated by an employer through a labour agreement.

What are the selection criteria?
  • Nomination: Must be nominated by an approved Australian employer.

  • Age: Generally, under 45 years of age at the time of application.

  • Skills and Qualifications: Possess the necessary skills and qualifications for the nominated position, including registration or licensing if required.

  • English Language Proficiency: Meet the English language requirements.

  • Health and Character: Satisfy health and character requirements.

What does this visa allow the candidate to do?
  • Live and work in Australia permanently.

  • Enrol in Australia’s public healthcare scheme, Medicare.

  • Sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence.

Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) Visa (Subclass 191)

What is the visa for?

This visa allows individuals who have lived and worked in designated regional areas of Australia on an eligible visa to live and work in Australia permanently.

What are the different streams?
  • Regional Provisional Stream: For holders of eligible provisional visas who have met the residence and work requirements in designated regional areas.
What are the selection criteria?
  • Eligible Visa: Must hold an eligible visa, such as the Subclass 491 or Subclass 494.

  • Residence: Have lived in a designated regional area for at least three years while holding the eligible visa.

What is the visa for?

This visa enables employers to address labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker.

What are the different streams?
  • Specialised Skills Stream: enables employers to address labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker. allows for stays of up to 4 years based on occupation type.

  • Labour Agreement Stream: For employers with a labour agreement with the Australian government with stays of up to 4 years.

What are the selection criteria?
  • The applicant must be nominated for a skilled position by an approved sponsor.

  • Possess the necessary skills and qualifications.

  • Meet English language proficiency requirements.

  • Satisfy health and character assessments.

What does this visa allow the candidate to do?
  • Work in Australia for the sponsoring employer in the nominated occupation.

  • Bring eligible family members to Australia.

  • Travel to and from Australia for the duration of the visa.

Temporary Activity Visa (Subclass 408)

What is the visa for?

This visa allows individuals to come to Australia temporarily to participate in specific activities or work, including entertainment, sports, research, religious work, and participation in events endorsed by the Australian government.

What are the different streams?

For participants on variety of events like government endorsed events, performance art, sporting, research, religious work, superyacht crew, domestic workers, participants in pacific labour scheme or participants in approved programmes.

Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) Visa (Subclass 400)

What is the visa for?

This visa is for individuals who want to travel to Australia to do short-term, highly specialized, non-ongoing work or participate in an activity or work relating to Australia’s interests.

What are the different streams?
  • Highly Specialized Work Stream: For short-term, highly specialized, non-ongoing work.
  • Australia’s Interest Stream: For work or activities that are in Australia’s interest.
What are the selection criteria?
  • The applicant must have specialized skills, knowledge, or experience that is needed but cannot be found in Australia.

  • Be invited or supported by the organization they will be working for.

  • Meet health and character requirements.
